Restoring a file
Use a saved version when a document has been changed, deleted or damaged. XiVault can restore only versions that are still present in the vault.
- Open Files & versions and browse to the protected folder and file.
- Select the saved revision you want. The app includes text and image previews where supported.
- Choose to restore as a copy when you want to keep the current file. To replace the current file, use the replacement option and confirm when asked.
- Open the restored file and check that it contains what you need before continuing your work.
For a deleted file, the app’s Recycle Bin lists deleted and moved-away files. Its file menu can restore to the original place when nothing is there, or put a copy back. The Time travel view shows the folder at an earlier change so you can locate the revision you need.
On Windows 0.6.3, Files & versions also lists shared folders. A cloud mark identifies a file not yet on this computer; opening it downloads it. Its saved versions are kept on the computer sharing that folder.
Restoration does not establish that a file is safe or that the cause of damage has been removed.
