Frequently Asked Questions
Licensing, Pricing & Updates
1. Is XiPhoto free to use right now?
Yes. During the Alpha phase, XiPhoto and all XiKey Desktop applications are free.
2. What will XiPhoto cost at Beta, and what discounts apply?
At Beta, XiPhoto will be available for $39/year ($19.50 in your first year with the 50% first-year discount) or $4.99/month ($0.99 for your first month). Alpha testers (founding members) keep the 50% yearly discount for life. Students pay $9/year for a single product or $19/year for XiKey Desktop Complete (all 14 apps, regularly $99/year or $49.50 in year one). XiPhoto is also included in the XiKey Creative bundle ($79/year).
3. Is there a refund policy at Beta?
Yes. Every Beta subscription includes a 30-day money-back guarantee (refunding revokes the licence). The Beta policy includes updates while subscribed through XiLauncher; signed XiKey update integration is in progress. Perpetual licences will be announced later.
Features & Compatibility
4. Can XiPhoto open and save layered Adobe Photoshop (.psd / .psb) files?
Yes. PSD and PSB opening and saving are supported with documented fidelity limits. Keep a native pcraft master and originals, and test a copy in the receiving editor. Common image formats include PNG, JPEG, TIFF, WebP, GIF and BMP; OpenRaster exchange can rasterize type and effects.
5. Are adjustments and filters destructive or non-destructive?
Both workflows are supported. You can apply adjustments directly to pixel layers (Image ▸ Adjustments) or add non-destructive Adjustment Layers (Levels, Curves, Brightness/Contrast, Exposure, Vibrance, Hue/Saturation, Color Balance, Black & White, Photo Filter, Channel Mixer, Color Lookup, Invert, Posterize, Threshold, Gradient Map, Selective Color) with layer masks and clipping masks. Converting a layer to a Smart Object also enables non-destructive Smart Filters.
6. Does XiPhoto use GPU acceleration?
Use a working graphics driver and test the pilot on your computer. Platform and graphics-driver limitations are documented upstream; no XiKey GPU minimum or universal acceleration/fallback guarantee has been validated.
7. What is the status of Arabic typography in XiPhoto?
The Arabic interface, one-click English ⇄ العربية switch, Arabic font beside the Latin font per text run, splash screen and XiKey icon are shipped in the local pilot. The Arabic-style font dialog, Arabic word order fix and dialogs/About/welcome are in progress. Kashida, tashkeel controls, digit styles, Hijri stamp, pattern generator, Classic/Modern layouts and add-ons are planned. See Arabic Text & RTL Support.
