Task Guide: Provisioning a University Architecture & Printmaking Studio
Scenario
You manage a shared workstation in a university architecture and fine-art printmaking lab. Students need vector drawing, page layout, CAD and PDF tools. Plan the setup using available packages; the XiKey catalog/feed integration is in progress, so installation of these XiKey apps through XiLauncher is not yet verified.
Step-by-Step Workflow
1. Configure Appearance and Review Installation Locations
- Open the launcher's Settings and choose the theme that suits the workstation.
- Review update preferences and interface language. XiLauncher Arabic and its one-click language switch are in progress.
- Allow space in the system's usual application locations. The upstream launcher uses each app's release package; this guide cannot promise installation to a dedicated custom apps folder.
- Close Settings and review the catalog.
2. Inspect the Required Studio Tools
- Search for the required vector and page-layout tools. When XiKey packages become available, these are XiVector and XiLayout.
- Open an available app's details and review the release notes and platform compatibility.
- If a compatible package is listed, use Install and follow any system permission prompt. Do not treat an upstream app entry as a XiKey release.
- Test a small vector or booklet file before preparing the shared workstation for students.
3. Add CAD and PDF Tools and Verify in Table View
- Review the available CAD and PDF packages; XiCAD and XiPDF are the corresponding XiKey products.
- Check format limits against the lab's sample drawings and PDFs before adopting the tools.
- Switch to the table view, filter Installed, and record the installed versions. Use Open to confirm each installed tool starts.
