Task Guide: Auditing Museum Conservation Workstations with the CLI

Scenario

You maintain five workstations in a museum textile and manuscript conservation department. Before the next documentation cycle, you need an inventory of installed versions and a maintenance plan.

Command-line status: Command-line inventory and download support is not verified for XiLauncher. Use the window-based audit below when a compatible package is available. XiKey catalog/feed integration and signed updates remain in progress.

Step-by-Step Workflow

1. Audit Installed and Latest Versions

Open the launcher, switch to the table view and filter Installed. Record each app's name, installed version and latest listed release in your inventory. Automatic JSON inventory export is not verified.

2. Check a Specific Application Before an Imaging Session

Search for the photography catalog tool and open its details. Review the version and release notes, then use Open to confirm that an installed package starts. A listed upstream tool does not establish availability of a XiLight package.

3. Plan Updates During a Maintenance Window

  1. Save work and close the applications that need updates.
  2. Review the Updates filter and each release's notes before using the available update action.
  3. Confirm the installed version after the update and test a representative file before repeating on the other workstations.

Pre-downloading packages or unattended batch updates through a XiLauncher command-line tool are not established by the inspected evidence.
