Frequently Asked Questions
Licensing, Pricing & Updates
1. Is XiLauncher free? What about the rest of the XiKey Desktop suite?
XiLauncher is listed as free ($0/year, $0/month). Furthermore, during the current Alpha phase, every application in the XiKey Desktop suite is completely free to use.
2. How will pricing work when XiKey Desktop reaches Beta?
Paid subscriptions begin at Beta:
- Individual applications are priced at $19/year, $29/year, or $39/year (or $2.49–$4.99/month), with XiWrite, XiSheet, and XiSlides bundled together as XiOffice at $29/year ($3.49/month).
- XiKey Creative (XiPhoto, XiVector, XiLayout, XiLight) is $79/year ($8.99/month), and XiKey Desktop Complete (all 14 products) is $99/year ($11.99/month).
- First-year & Founding Member discount: Yearly plans include a 50% first-year discount (for example, $49.50/year for Complete), and Alpha testers (founding members) keep that 50% discount for life. Monthly plans start at $0.99 for the first month.
- Student plans: $9/year per product or $19/year for XiKey Desktop Complete.
- Perpetual licences: Will be announced later.
3. Is there a money-back guarantee once paid plans begin at Beta?
Yes. Starting at Beta, all purchases include a 30-day money-back guarantee. Requesting a refund revokes the corresponding licence key.
4. How are application updates delivered?
The pricing policy includes updates while subscribed, delivered through XiLauncher. The upstream launcher implements package checks and update actions; connecting the XiKey catalog/feed and signed distribution is in progress. Public XiKey installers have not been verified.
Technical Questions
5. Can I move my installed applications to another drive?
A custom apps-folder selector or automatic relocation is not verified. The upstream launcher uses each app's normal system installation location and release package. Check the package's own supported installation options before changing drives.
6. Does XiLauncher have keyboard shortcuts?
Inside the enlarged screenshot view, use the left and right arrow keys to browse and Esc to close it. No separate shortcuts page is provided.
7. Are plugins and add-ons available in XiLauncher today?
Sandboxed add-on distribution and management are planned. Signed XiKey updates are in progress, and their completed integration is not established.
