Interface Overview

These guides describe the documented upstream workflow. XiFilm integration and installers are still in development; Alpha is free. Availability in a XiKey release has not yet been verified.

Main Areas of the Window

XiFilm's desktop workspace provides panels organized around a dual-monitor NLE layout:

  1. Project, Media Browser, Effects & Markers Panels (Left / Lower-Left):
    • Project Panel: Organize media in bins and Smart Bins, toggle between List View and Icon View (Shift+\) with hover scrub (Shift+H), attach low-overhead **Proxy** media, and filter clips (Shift+F).
    • Effects Panel: Browse video and audio effects and transitions (Cross Dissolve, Dip to Black/White, Wipe, Push, Slide, Iris, Page Peel, Morph Cut, Constant Power/Gain).
  2. Source Monitor & Effect Controls (Top-Left / Center-Left):
    • Source Monitor: Preview raw footage, set In (I) and Out (O) points, create subclips, and perform Insert (,) or Overwrite (.) three-point edits.
    • Effect Controls: Keyframe Motion (Position, Scale, Rotation, Anchor Point), Opacity, Time Remapping / Speed Ramps, Warp Stabilizer, and stacked clip effects.
  3. Program Monitor & Lumetri Scopes (Top-Right):
    • Program Monitor: Inspect the active sequence with rulers, guides, safe margins, multi-camera grid overlay, and direct graphic/title manipulation.
    • Lumetri Scopes: Real-time Waveform, RGB Parade, Vectorscope, and Histogram scopes.
  4. Multi-Track Timeline & Tool Strip (Bottom):
    • Multiple video, audio, and subtitle/caption tracks with track targeting (Cmd+0 / Cmd+9), sync locks, mute/solo, voiceover recording, and precision Ripple, Roll, Slip, Slide, Razor, and Rate Stretch tools.
  5. Color, Audio & Text Finishing Panels (Right):
    • Lumetri Color: exposure, white balance, RGB/HSL curves, color wheels, secondary correction and vignette.
    • Audio Track Mixer & Audio Clip Mixer: Track EQ, compressor, limiter, pan, automation modes (Off, Read, Latch, Touch, Write), volume automation, and EBU R128 loudness metering (LUFS / LRA / True Peak).
    • Text & Essential Graphics: Transcript-based text navigation (use Backspace to ripple-delete selected transcript segments) and SRT/WebVTT caption editing.

Switching Interface Language (English ⇄ العربية)
