Getting Started with XiMotion

These guides describe the documented upstream workflow. XiMotion integration and installers are still in development; Alpha is free. Availability in a XiKey release has not yet been verified.

Overview and Alpha Status

XiMotion is the XiKey™ motion graphics and compositing project built on EffectCraft. Its inspected upstream foundation combines layers, keyframes, effects, 3D staging and render delivery. XiKey integration is still planned at the Alpha stage; Arabic interface and launcher work remain in progress.

XiMotion is based on EffectCraft by the ArtCraft team (MIT OR Apache-2.0).

Creating Projects and Compositions

  1. Create a new project: Launch XiMotion and start a clean project or open an existing project (Ctrl+O / Cmd+O, or File ▸ New ▸ New Project from Template…).
  2. Create a Composition (Ctrl+N / Cmd+N): Set frame width, height, pixel aspect ratio, frame rate (fps), resolution (Full, Half, Third, Quarter), background color, and duration in ticks/timecode.
  3. Import footage (Ctrl+I / Cmd+I): start with supported images, footage or Lottie files. Importing another application’s project does not guarantee a complete transfer.

Welcome Screen and Workspace Choices (Status)

  • Work in Arabic or English — In progress: An Arabic interface and one-click EN ⇄ ع switching are in progress for this product. The verified pilot is XiPhoto; this integration is not shipped.
  • Find Arabic fonts by style — In progress: A font dialog grouped by Arabic styles, with script-aware previews, is in progress. Product integration and native review remain.
  • A consistent XiKey welcome — In progress: XiKey splash, About and message dialogs are in progress, including upstream credit and version information.
  • Choose a comfortable workspace — Planned: Classic and Modern layout presets, together with Retina scaling, are planned.
  • Extend through XiLauncher — Planned: XiKey add-ons managed through XiLauncher are planned.
  • Receive verified updates — In progress: Signed updates delivered through XiLauncher are in progress. A public XiKey release channel is not yet verified for this product.
