Frequently Asked Questions

Alpha status (14 October 2026): XiCAD is planned and its public installer is not verified. This page describes the checked CADCraft foundation; XiKey integration is still in progress. Alpha is free today.

Licensing, Pricing & Updates

1. Is XiCAD free during Alpha?

Alpha is free today. XiCAD remains planned in the Alpha stage, with no verified public installer.

2. What will XiCAD cost at Beta?

Future Beta pricing lists XiCAD at US$39/year or US$4.99/month before tax. The yearly first year is 50% off; the monthly first month is US$0.99. Founding Alpha members keep the first-year 50% price for life. Students: US$9/year per product or US$19/year for XiKey Desktop Complete.

3. What is the refund and update policy?

Beta subscriptions have a 30-day money-back policy; refunds revoke the licence. The store includes updates while subscribed. XiCAD signed-update integration through XiLauncher is in progress. Perpetual licences will be announced later.

DWG/DXF Compatibility, 3D Modeling & Plotting

4. Which DXF and DWG versions does XiCAD read and write?

The checked foundation reads and writes DXF and DWG. Version coverage and preservation have limitations, especially custom objects and foreign data through DWG. Preserve originals and test representative saved copies.

5. Does XiCAD support 3D solid modeling and STEP/IGES exchange?

No. The checked foundation has no 3D solid modeling or STEP/IGES/STL exchange. Its documented drafting and constraints are 2D capabilities.

6. Can I use Paper Space layouts and CTB/STB plot style tables?

Paper-space layouts, scaled viewports and PDF/SVG/PNG output exist upstream. Plot styles use the application's own format; binary AutoCAD CTB/STB files are not read. Inspect output scale and lineweights.

7. Does XiCAD support 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse controllers and accessibility cursors?

SpaceMouse support is not implemented in the checked foundation. No verified XiCAD release establishes the claimed controller or accessibility-cursor behavior.
