Arabic Annotations & RTL Support in XiCAD
Alpha status (14 October 2026): XiCAD is planned and its public installer is not verified. This page describes the checked CADCraft foundation; XiKey integration is still in progress. Alpha is free today.
Honest Status: What Works Today vs. Coming
What Works Today
- Drawing text: The checked CADCraft foundation supports bidirectional layout and Arabic-script shaping in single-line and multiline text. Use an installed TrueType/OpenType font covering Arabic; changing formatting inside a word can break joining.
- Arabic interface selection: Upstream documents an Arabic language preference, but this does not establish a reviewed XiKey Arabic interface or mirrored workspace.
- Drawing exchange: DXF and DWG support has limitations. Inspect saved copies rather than assuming lossless Unicode or annotation interchange.
In Progress / Planned for XiCAD (Coming)
- In progress: Arabic interface integration and one-click English ⇄ العربية switch; Arabic font dialog grouped by style; XiKey splash, About and message dialogs; signed update delivery through XiLauncher.
- Planned: Classic/Modern layouts, Retina scaling and icon refinements, and sandboxed XiKey add-ons managed through XiLauncher.
- Bilingual title-block templates, Hijri fields and numeral controls are not established XiCAD additions in the reviewed product record.
