Task Guide: Staging a Handcrafted Ceramic Tableware Concept Shoot

These guides describe the documented upstream workflow. XiArt integration and installers are still in development; Alpha is free. Availability in a XiKey release has not yet been verified.

Scenario Overview

In this guide, you will develop a visual concept presentation for a handcrafted Stoneware Tea Carafe & Cup Collection. You will curate glaze and form references on the Moodboard, convert a 2D silhouette sketch into a 3D mesh for spatial layout in 3D Scene, light and capture a hero camera angle, and paint reactive celadon glaze highlights on the 2D Canvas.

Step 1: Curate Glaze & Silhouette References on the Moodboard

  1. Create a new project (Stoneware-Autumn-Line) and open the Assets & Triage Grid.
  2. Import 24 reference photos of wood-fired ash glazes, linen table runners, and brutalist timber plinths.
  3. Step through the references using ArrowRight / ArrowLeft:
    • Press P to flag the strongest references as Pick and 4 or 5 to assign star ratings.
  4. Drag your top-rated picks onto the Moodboard Canvas, group the glaze swatches with Ctrl+G, add a text note (T) specifying the target firing cone (Cone 10 Reduction – Celadon & Iron Spot), and press Shift+1 to fit the board to the viewport.

Step 2: Convert a 2D Carafe Sketch to a 3D Proxy Mesh

  1. Switch to 2D Canvas, press 3 for the Brush tool (adjusting brush size with Ctrl+= and Ctrl+-), and paint a clean front-elevation silhouette of the stoneware carafe on a white background.
  2. Use Remove Background through a compatible provider, if available. Inspect the cutout before continuing.
  3. Request Image-to-3D Mesh from a compatible service, if available. Check its cost first, inspect the resulting mesh, then add it to the scene. Model access and a particular output format are not guaranteed by XiArt.

Step 3: Stage Lighting and Camera Composition in 3D Scene

  1. Open 3D Scene, press B to open the Asset Menu, and drop the generated carafe mesh plus two stoneware cup meshes onto the tabletop plane.
  2. Select each vessel and position it using the transform gizmos:
    • T for Translate, R for Rotate, and G for Scale (press X to toggle between World and Local coordinate space, and N to toggle grid snapping).
  3. Navigate the perspective camera using W/A/S/D (horizontal movement) and Q/E (vertical elevation), or press F to frame the selected carafe.
  4. Adjust the lighting controls available in the scene to show the vessels clearly. Inspect the preview before capturing a still.
  5. Press Tab to enter Record Mode, then press C (Capture Still) to render a still directly into your project library.

Step 4: Paint Reactive Glaze Highlights in 2D Canvas

  1. Open the captured 3D render inside 2D Canvas.
  2. Press 4 to activate the Mask / Inpaint tool and brush over the upper shoulder and pouring lip of the carafe where the celadon glaze pools.
  3. With a compatible service, run an Inpaint / Image-to-Image refinement pass for crackled celadon ceramic glaze pooling over dark iron stoneware, blending the refined texture layer over your 3D base render.
